Shamoon Ismail (Punjabi: شمعون اسمعیل; born 21 September 1991) is a renowned Pakistani singer, songwriter, composer, and multi-instrumentalist, celebrated for his distinctive fusion of Punjabi and blues music.
Born and raised in Islamabad in a Punjabi Muslim family, Shamoon developed a deep passion for music from an early age, particularly drawn to playing the guitar. Over the years, he honed his skills and mastered four instruments, with a special preference for the guitar and bass, while also enjoying the drums.
Shamoon began his musical journey by sharing his work on platforms like Bandcamp and SoundCloud, gradually building a dedicated fanbase. His performances at university campuses and popular regional festivals such as Music Mela and Lahore Music Meet earned him widespread recognition. In 2013, he released his debut single, "Sapne," followed by his breakthrough music video, "Tuntuna," which gained significant popularity in Pakistan and India.
Throughout his career, Shamoon has collaborated with several prominent artists, including MRKLE, Talal Qureshi, Abdullah Qureshi, Haider Mustehsan, Osama Com Laude (OCL), Mooroo, Ghauri, Young Stunners, Asim Azhar, Raamis, Annural Khalid, Talha Anjum, and Talhah Yunus.
In 2018, Shamoon’s song "Taare" became a subject of controversy when Bilal Khan was accused of plagiarizing it. Despite challenges, Shamoon continues to evolve as an influential figure in Pakistan's music industry, consistently delivering soulful and innovative tracks.
