Career
Roger David born October 15, 1979), professionally known as Bohemia, is a Pakistani-American rapper, singer, songwriter, and record producer, renowned for pioneering the Desi hip-hop industry, particularly in Punjabi music. Early and Personal LifeBohemia was born into a Punjabi Christian family in Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan. He spent his early years in Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, before immigrating to the United States at the age of 13. On June 13, 2017, he married Sunny David in an intimate ceremony held in the San Francisco Bay Area.In the early 2000s, Bohemia joined his cousin in Oakland, California, where he met hip-hop producer Sha One (Seth Agress). Their shared passion for music led them to form The Outfit Entertainment. Bohemia's debut album, Vich Pardesan De (In The Foreign Land), was an autobiographical account of his experiences as a Desi immigrant in America.
His second album, Pesa Nasha Pyar (Money, Intoxication, Love), became the first major-label Punjabi rap album, blending Bohemia's Punjabi verses with Sha One's English hooks. Released by Universal Music Group, the album topped charts, including Maxim's Top 10 downloads and Planet M India's Top 3.
In 2009, Bohemia lent his voice to Bollywood with title tracks for Chandni Chowk To China and 8 x 10 Tasveer, both starring Akshay Kumar. He later contributed a track to Kumar's Hollywood production Breakaway.
In 2012, Sony Music India signed Bohemia, overseeing his album releases and live performances. That same year, his fourth album, Thousand Thoughts, won the Best Non-Resident Punjabi Album at the PTC Punjabi Music Awards. Bohemia also became the first rapper to perform on Coke Studio Pakistan (Season 5).
In 2015, Bohemia co-founded Kali Denali Music with J.Hind, though he later departed the label. His 2017 album, Skull & Bones: The Final Chapter, featured chart-topping singles, followed by the EP Skull & Bones: Volume 2, released as individual tracks.
In 2022, Bohemia released his fifth studio album, I Am I.C.O.N (In Control Of Nothing), featuring emerging artists and music produced by Deep Jandu.
Bohemia continues to influence the global Desi hip-hop scene, blending Punjabi lyricism with contemporary rap elements.
